1000 Sweaters

The ultimate book for creating your own look! The pages of this spiral bound book are divided in two sections so you can mix/match different sweater collars, sleeves, and other 'parts' to make your perfect sweater.

Classic Knitted Vests

Looking for a vest pattern? You're sure to find it in this book that offers stockinette stitch pullover and cardigan vests for both men and women, each one in five sizes and four weights of yarn. Though the master pattern may at first appear daunting, suggestions are offered to simplify the task of finding the perfect pattern, in the perfect size using a wide variety of yarns. Following that section are patterns in five sizes, using more decorative stitches. Indications of skill levels help with the selection. Brief but thorough knitting tips for all levels of experience. Lots of color photos.

Simply Knit 2

The Simply Knit story continues with this second collection of knitting patterns. These garments exemplify the use of shape, form and color to create innovative, contemporary knitwear.

Vogue Knitting The Ultimate Knitting Book

This is one of the more comprehensive knitting references out there. All the basic techniques are covered so that a beginner could knit most of the patterns included. A good reference that assumes nothing and starts at the very beginning with casting on. Often overlooked by other references, this book has a whole chapter devoted to embellishments such as knitting with beads and sequins, and embroidery stitches. The color illustrations and photographs make this a very useful guide. Oversized, hard cover 280pgs.

Lace from the Attic

Briefly, an old leather notebook of knitted lace samples is left in an attic, then years later rescued from the trash, and entrusted to the author who has painstakingly "translated" the instructions into modern knitting terms. This is a treasure for all lace fanciers. The author has provided for both charts and written-out instructions. Most patterns are lace edgings of various widths with a few circular doilies and circular edgings, rectangular scarves and three baby sets. Each piece is shown in black & white photos. Some readers may need to enlarge the charts somewhat.

Traditional Knitted Lace Shawls

Fine knitted lace shawls are about as high a form of human adornment as can be conceived. The source is rather vague. The history clouded by the fact that knitting was such a 'common' craft in its birth place. The patterns weren't even written until the mid-19th century. But the tradition is carried forward by this comprehensive study of the knitted lace of the British Isles. Full of history, lore, patterns, instructions, even wearing styles, this book will satisfy your curiosity of these shawls loved by Queen Victoria, collected in museums, and the delight of many knitters.

Knitting With Bits & Pieces

Crafty people are always trying to find ways to use leftover materials. This book is for the knitter who has collected a treasure trove of odds and ends. The projects are cute, useful, and worthy of gift giving. They don't have that "I'll-bet-he/she-made-that-to-use-up-that-yarn" look. There's a whole chapter of small projects for that one last ball of yarn. Another is devoted to extra small projects for those tiny bits like doll clothes and baby toys. This book willl make you look at your scraps in a whole new way! HD 176 pages.

From Needles to Hook

A great reference for converting knitting patterns to crochet! What a great idea! This book opens up so many more possibilities for the crocheter/knitter. No longer limited by using patterns just for crochet, now even knit patterns can be successfully translated into crochet patterns. I liked the side-by-side comparison showing color photos of the finished knit and crochet stitches, and was glad that is explained how to construct both versions. Several projects are also included so that you can practice each technique. Hard cover, 192 pages.

Vogue Knitting Quick Reference

A great reference for knitting techniques. Knit English or Continental, cast on like a pro, increases, decrease, binding off and more. Spiral bound for easy reading. 128 pages.

Elizabeth Zimmermann. A wonderful knitting book for both new and experienced knitters. Includes projects for each month of the year. Written in EZ's narrative style, you'll enjoy reading it as much as knitting the projects.
